The Lust Lizard of Melacholy Cove by Christopher Moore

"Mavis stepped up to the bar and in low, conspiratorial tones, began telling Winston Krauss the most titillating, outrageously erotic tale that she had ever told, trying the whole time to remember that the man she was talking to wanted to have sex with marine animals."

A small sleepy, seaside town goes wild after its inhabitants have their anti-depressants replaced by placebos, their libidos go into overdrive and a giant lizard is on the rampage.

Christopher Moore is at his hilarious best here. In a town where everyone has their secrets and the marijuana addled cop's biggest problems stem from keeping the ex-sci-fi star crazy woman from beating up visitors, the arrival of a carnivorous sea creature is bound to stir up trouble.

There's the blues, missing, chipped rats and a swat team thrown into the mix just to make things more interesting.

I can't tell you anymore - it might ruin the fun! Bring your snorkel and prepare for the mayhem, best wear something that wipes off - 5 out of 5 for sheer fishiness.
